In the borderland between hope and despair, the signs of the Second World War are still present today – in the landscape, in the buildings and in the stories of the people.
Our three tours take you to places where people once faced decisions that are almost impossible to imagine. Along the way, you will feel your own moral compass shift. 
The routes are based on the book ‘Ich war hier’ (I was here) and were developed jointly by museums and tourism partners on both sides of the border. Choose your route below and immerse yourself in history step by step.

Voices from the borderland: encounter the story of Arne Andreasen in Grindsted, discover the Gestapo headquarters in Kolding and experience the Frøslev camp, the ‘last stop before hell’. A route that brings you very close to one question: where do you draw the line?

In the name of resistance: Tortured. Convicted. Executed. Starved. This route takes you from Kolding via the Frøslev camp to Neuengamme and into the history of those who could no longer remain silent.

In memory of the dead: Embark on a thoughtful journey into the land of remembrance in northern Germany – the Jewish Museum in Rendsburg, Neuengamme and the Ladelund and Husum-Schwesing memorial sites. Here, silence becomes a warning.
